Pre - Operative Instructions for General Anesthesia

Each patient's pre-operative instructions will be customized for their particular situation.

  1. You must bring a responsible adult with you who can stay THE DURATION of your surgery and then drive you home.
Each patient's instructions will be specifically tailored by Dr. Wells prior to scheduled surgery.
  2. It is most important that you do not eat or drink anything at least six hours prior surgery. Unless directed otherwise by Dr. Wells. That includes water, coffee, or anything that you would normally ingest. Any medications you may be on, must be discussed with Dr. Wells prior to surgery.
  3. NO SMOKING AFTER 7PM THE NIGHT BEFORE SURGERY.
  4. Please wear short sleeved shirts or blouses, loose fitting, comfortable clothing and shoes that are of low heel. No jewelry please.
  5. Your fee previously discussed will be due prior to your surgery, unless prior arrangements have been made with the patient coordinator.
  6. It is suggested that you put an old pillow case on your pillow for the first night, just in case there is any drainage.

IF YOU FAIL TO COMPLY WITH THE INSTRUCTIONS, NO. 1 TO 4, LISTED ABOVE, THE DOCTOR WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PERFORM THE SURGERY UNDER GENERAL ANESTHESIA AND IT WILL BE NECESSARY TO RESCHEDULE YOUR SURGERY.

We welcome your questions and suggestions about ways we can improve our services to you.
